Reports for Science, Biology and Health

In writing a report your first task is to choose what type of report to do. Look over the following. If you want to do anything different ask the teacher.

Step 2 is to submit a proposal that includes the title and scope of your report to your teacher for approval.

Plagiarism is taking someone elses ideas or work and passing it off as ones own.

This happens when a person copies pages from the internet without crediting that source in the bibliography.

Points will be deducted equal to the possible points which could be earned.

Article Summary

This is a list of magazine articles which are pre-approved. The magazines are available in the classroom. If you wish to take one home please ask the teacher for a copy of the article.

The Why Files? website has many articles of the proper length (4-6 pages) which would be appropriate for summary reports. Browse the archives to select one then submit it for approval.

Other reports could include places that you visit which have relevance to your class

Museums

Points of interest - a trip to Sea World or the zoo would make a good report for Biology

Observations - watching the world around you with a scientific eye can yield information about weather, geology, animal behavior, health and much more. Writing about your obervations and how they relate to what you have learned in class is a fun way to earn points.

Collections - scientific collections such as rocks, insects, trees, flowers or clouds, are a good way to earn points. Obviously some of these will be virtual collections done with pictures or drawings, and could be submitted electronically.
