…The forces of unrest in our minority community have placed new dramatic demands upon the school of our nation.  We educators of Black Heritage, proud of our commitment to our profession, fully cognizant of our pledge of service to all children of all the people, and continuing in our dedication to quality education for all students, do affirm, also, the unique rile which we serve in these times of tensions and change.  Because of our heritage, we are part of the Black Community and, thus intimately involved in its welfare.  We feel a special responsibility to the resolution of educational problems of the Black Community.
